Origins of Tapping

The origin of the tapping therapy has a long history. During the Northern Wei Dynasty, there was similar records in the Classic of Tendon Changing. The flapping baton therapy in the book of Golden Mirror of Medicine of Qing Dynasty actually refers to the tapping therapy. It was mentioned in the book “Flapping baton is a 1.5 feet long of baton, diameter of a coin, or can be a noodle baton. At the injury part, the blood is clog that causes swelled and pain. By using the baton to tap softly on the surrounding area to allow better blood circulation, the blood stasis and pain will reduce.

 

Principal of Tapping

– The body’s external skin functions to protect the body from pathogens, closely connected to other parts of the body.

– Tapping on the skin will stimulate various part of the body and improve the blood circulation, thus it will further improve to the meridian.

– The parts of the body being tapped will stimulate the meridian, untangles to relax the whole body, and increase the ideal condition of physical fitness, so that the body is always healthy.

Precautions of Tapping

1. When tapping, use the moderate strength from the wrist to flap on.
2. Start from the hand and leg joints, tap on the parts that are easier to hit, pain will reduce gradually.
3. If there is any discomfort during the tapping process, or skin redness, stop for the moment. Continue tapping after the discomfort or redness had subsided.
4. Most of the user may feel giddy during or after tapping, usually this is caused by increased blood circulation when tapping, at this moment just rest for awhile.
5. Try not to tap at too late at night, as night time is for the body to rest, tapping too late at night might cause insomnia.
6. Do not do tapping within 1 hour after meal as it might caused indigestion.
7. Relax when tapping, do not use excessive force or it might get injured.
8. During tapping, do follow the muscle level and vertical/slanting direction of the parts of the skeletal muscle.
9. The pores will open whet tapping process, try not to be under strong wind or low room temperature. Do not get in touch with water, especially cold water directly after tapping process.
10. During tapping on the leg, if there is redness, user may raise their leg around 20-30 minutes to improve metabolic cycle. (Lay flat and raise the calf to 20-30cm will do).
11. Lower limb varicose veins and edema patients, should tap from bottom to top with moderate force improve blood circulation.
12. For the diabetic patients, their skin tolerance is lower and blood vascular is fragile. Therefore, should step by step tap on softly.

 

Effective Tapping Method Grasp the 3 Key Words for Tapping

Regardless of tapping for ourselves or helping others, we must remember the 3 secret words: Relax, Rhythm and Heart

 

1st Key Word : Relax

[Relax] means whole body relax.

During tapping, three main joints at the wrist, elbow and shoulder has to be relaxed. Use the elbow as the main movement joint when tapping, at the same time relax the wrist. However, for soft tapping, use the wrist as the main movement joint. During the whole tapping process, try to relax as much as possible to achieve the maximum effectiveness.

 

2nd Key Word : Rhythm

[Rhythm] means appropriate tapping rhythm.

The tapping should be slow with rhythm from the start till the end. When tapping slowly, if wel create the vibration rhythm, this will reduce the overloading of the muscle. This is the reason that when tapping slowly, we are unlikely to feel pain or tired. Whereas, for beginners who often tends to hit faster and faster, after 10 minutes then they will feel tired.

 

3rd Key Word : Heart

[Heart] is referring to adjusting our emotion.

Always allow ourselves to be in the happy mood, do not easily complain or angry. Maintaining a pleasure mood when tapping. We will gradually realize the tapping benefits for our body and mind while self adjusting our mood during tapping.

 

Duration and Interval of Tapping

You may do the tapping everyday, morning and night each one time, or morning, afternoon and night each one time. Rhythmically hit 30 -50 times on each part of the body.

 

Adjust the number of hits based on your own timing and endurance of pain, you could reduce tapping for certain parts. But each part has to be 30 – 50 hits or it will not produce the healing effect.
